Shall provide counseling and guidance that fosters student growth and development in at-risk students. Shall be responsible for documenting and reporting student progress, behavior, and attendance and communicating it effectively to appropriate stakeholders. Shall assist the guidance counselor and other ancillary staff in the processes of serving at-risk students including the facilitation and coordination of post-secondary transition planning. Serve as a member of a monthly Elk Rapids Youth Services Task Force (YSTF) consisting of representatives from Elk Rapids Schools, Antrim Probate Court, Antrim Family Resource Center, Antrim Sherriff’s Department, Elk Rapids Police Department, and Child Protective Services. Collaborate with all instructional and support staff members as needed to ensure success for at-risk students. Convene and facilitate parent-student-teacher meetings as needed for At-Risk students. Conduct Child-Find activities to identify students potentially at-risk of failure by collecting, analyzing and monitoring demographic and assessment/performance data. Conduct intake data collection, case management, and record keeping for at-risk students. Facilitate Social-Emotional Curriculum/Instruction. Perform short-term personal counseling with students, parents, and/or school personnel to identify obstacles to student achievement and address them within the short term. Supervise the referral of students to, and serve as liaison with, such outside agencies as the Family Independence Agency/Child Protective Services (FIA/CPS), Probate Court, Mancelona Family Resource Center, and Third Level Counseling Agency, and the like, as appropriate. Provide in-service training in guidance and at-risk supports for staff as appropriate. Assist in design of district social-emotional curriculum for at-risk students. Assist in classroom implementation of social-emotional curriculum where appropriate.

This At-Risk (Section 31a) funded position is scheduled for a maximum of 29.5 hours per week. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Section 31a At Risk-Funded Position is Part-Time.
Wages and benefits will be commensurate with experience, grant requirements, and contractual commitments.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with administrative procedures, grant requirements, and established contractual protocols.
